CAC Programs

A multifaceted organization, CAC aims to make its impact simple, but significant.

Food Bank

CAC operates a food bank from 9-11am Mondays-Fridays. We believe this program is one of the most vital we offer, as it plays a direct role in combating hunger in the surrounding area. The food bank serves a number of community clients, which are free to stop by anytime and stock up on food and other supplies that we may have. Most of the CAC's food supply comes from Second Harvest, however, community donations are critical to the work we do and always welcome. Volunteers can come by any day of the week. During this time, volunteers help to stock and organize food on our shelves, pack grocery bags, and share casual coffee and conversation with our clients!

Food With Friends

On the last Friday of each month, the CAC partners with Food with Friends to serve a delicious, free community lunch at St. Mark's Hall. All members of the Sewanee community are invited including CAC clients, faculty, staff, and students! This is an amazing opportunity to meet new people and make lasting connections with those who share a deep appreciation for this community and those in it. Volunteers can help with cooking, serving, or cleaning (we'll be working from around 10:00 a.m. until about 2:00 p.m., but volunteers are welcome to only come for a portion of that time).

St. James Tutoring

Every Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., CAC volunteers meet at St. James Church to tutor and provide homework help to a small group of students from Sewanee Elementary. This is a great way for parents to obtain additional help for their children if they need it or simply a nice after hours educational outlet.
